Make Merry – Re-post
Due to some technical problem, today's earlier post didn't allow comments. Let's try this again. Sorry about the duplication!
I'm so excited to be the Guest Stamper on Mary Fish's Stampin' Pretty Blog today. She's an example of the sharing that abounds in this craft and our Pretty Pals group. Don't believe me? Ask any one of the Pals and you'll get the same answer. Thank you Mary! Want to be part of this friendly group of crafters? Email me for details.
I'm not sure why, but there's something about old barns and snow that speak warm holiday memories to me. We had a big old barn at home but lived over 2 hours from any snow to speak of. Could it be the stories of harsh winters in Wisconsin that I loved to hear from grandparents? I remember it well, a hot copy of cocoa, snuggled up to a fire and grandma telling us about sleigh rides from the farm to town in snow that seemed a mile deep to my young ears. It's clear to see what inspired this card.
I'm still in love with old barns and the Woodgrain Background stamp makes recreating this image a snap. A little Soft Suede cardstock, VersaMark and Clear Stampin' Emboss powder and you've got it! This time I also empbossed the card base with the same. I really like the extra dimension that it gives the card.
Originally, I had planned to have the snowflakes dangle from linen thread but the little devils wouldn't play nice. Since they melt so quickly, I let them stick where they landed and gave the Mini-Jingle Bells the honor.
To pull it all together, I caught a few more of those snowflakes and let them hold up the sentiment inside.

I agree with Margaret. This does feel like a Christmas memory and now I also will have to get the snowflake die now. Just a perfect card!
Beautiful card. Love the jingle bells!
This is a beautiful card, Rae! Love the snowflakes and the woodgrain background! Very, very nice! Thanks for sharing!
Rae, I just love this card! The woodgrain on both of the background layers with the delicate snowflakes – just beautiful! You really did a wonderful job of recreating a special Christmas memory 🙂 And you gave me another thing that I can't live without…the strip die of snowflakes! 🙂

Beautiful card, Rae. I love the contrast between of the airiness of the snowflakes against the Soft Suede woodgrain background.
