Paper Pumpkin Gift Card

Paper Pumpkin Gift Card at WildWestPaperArts.comDo you know what day it is?  April 10th, the last day to register or make changes to your Paper Pumpkin subscription for the month of April.  That includes redeeming your Prepaid Subscription Voucher. We don’t know what surprises await but we DO know there’s a fun, creative escape inside every box.  Like the March kit, you’ll have plenty of supplies to create something “outside the box”.  The Paper Pumpkin Gift Card Holder (above) is a prime example.

The suggested card (below) had us threading needles and trying to remember what it was like to sew by hand.

Some subscribers just weren’t too excited about this.  So, to keep everyone happy, many of us (demonstrators) came up with alternate projects without the sewing, like the gift card holder and the car below.

PPA247 Color Challenge with the Pals

PPA247 Color Challenge at WildWestPaperArts.com

PPA247 Color Challenge at WildWestPaperArts.comWow, the PPA247 Color Challenge from Pals Paper Arts sure is a beautiful trio of purples. Perfect trio to showcase the Bokeh technique, don’t you think?

Have you ever wondered how this fun technique got the name Bokeh?  Here’s a little information.

In photography, bokeh (BOH-kay) — also sometimes pronounced as /bo-KAY/ BOH-k, Japanese: [boke]) is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light”.

Many of the Bokeh tutorials I’ve seen show using Sponge Daubers to apply the ink.  I like this method a little better for small projects.  Ready…. just use the eraser at the end of a wooden pencil.  Make sure the erase is as flat as possible, and clean.  Stamping off will give you the lighter tones.

Try this fun and easy technique with Sponge Daubers and different colors too.  Now it’s time to head over for more inspiration from Design Team 2 at Pals Paper Arts.

PPA246 Color Challenge with the Pals

PPA246 Color Challenge with the Pals at WildWestPaperArts.comPPA246 Color Challenge at WildWestPaperArts.comWelcome to PPA246 Color Challenge with the Pals.  Perfect colors for an Easter celebration!

Have you ever tried dying your Easter Eggs with Stampin’ Up! Classic Reinkers? I’ve always wondered if it would work. I found this method on Pinterest from Julia Pitta. Give it a try.

You’ll need (per color):

  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water at room temperature
  • 5 to 10 drops of Stampin’ Up! ink in your favorite color.  You may need more if the color is very light.
  • Glass or Cup
  • Large Spoon
  • Drying Rack (I use a cake rack)

Optional:

  • Coordinating Stamp Pad
  • Sponge Dauber
  • Spritzer loaded with brown ink and water (Soft Suede was used here)

  1. Mix the Vinegar, Water and Ink in a glass or cup.
  2. Gently place one hard-boiled egg in the cup.
  3. Let set between 2 and 5 minutes depending on how intense you’d like the color.  You can add more ink or leave it in the water a little longer.
  4. Remove from the dye solution and set out to dry completely.

Polka Dot Egg:

  • After the egg is completely dry, apply the same color ink from a Classic Ink Stamp Pad with a sponge dauber.

Speckled Egg:

  • Spritz with a medium to dark brown ink/water solution.  Soft Suede was used here.  Keep spritzer about 10″ from the egg when spritzing
  • You can also fill an Aqua Painter with the ink solution and flick the end of the brush tip to apply the speckles.

So, if you haven’t colored those eggs yet, get out the ink and have some fun!  Come up with your own decorating techniques.  These little cuties will be placed by the plates on our Easter dinner table.

Psst…. A little birdie told me that Stampin’ Up! has a surprise for all of us tomorrow, April 3, 2015.  I’m “dying” to see what it is!
