Love-Hate Thinlet Relationship!

Hexagon Hive Thinlet #132965 at WildWestPaperArts.com

Hexagon Hive Thinlet #132965

I have a love-hate Thinlet relationship!  Do you?  I love the effect of wafer thin Thinlets but HATE to pick the beautiful image out of the die.  So, they sit on the shelf begging me to come out and play as I walk away saying, “you haven’t changed a bit,” until now…..

This technique from Karen Burniston beats the wax paper tip I shared earlier this year hands down!  Genius!!!!  Thank you Karen.  Watch Karen’s Dryer Sheet Magic below.

Try this tip with some of Stampin’ Up!s Thinlets….

Kinda Eclectic Color Challenge PPA227

RJ PPA227 Pals paper Arts Color Challenge PA227 at Wild West Paper ArtsThursday brings another autumn color challenge from Pals Paper Arts.  One thing about Autumn… there’s no shortage of vibrant colors for inspiration.

The Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set, with it’s earthy elements, is my set of choice to showcase the trio of Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.

Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set #135350 cm;#135347 wm at WildWestPaperArts.com

Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set #135350 cm; 135347 wm

You won’t find the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set in the 2014 Holiday Catalog or Supplement.  You WILL find it in the Annual Catalog, on page 164 along with another cute idea shown here.

A few simple tools put the finishing touches on today’s project, starting with my favorite background “stamp” the Adhesive Remover (#103684).  Just ink it up and lightly stamp to create an all-over, grungy background.  Clean-up is a breeze. Run the Adhesive Remover under warm water and pat dry.  The tool is ready to use again, good as new. Click here for directions on how to make “snow” using this versatile tool.

Next on the “must have” list are the Stampin’ Sponges (#101610).  Use sponges to apply color to edges adding instant dimension. You’ll get three sponges that can be cut into smaller wedges.  Keep them clean by running them under warm water.  Set aside to dry.

Lastly, you’ll need the Stampin’ Distress Tool (#127562) to rough up the edges and finish the look.

Don’t forget to fray edges of ribbon, twine and burlap too.  Add a few refined embellishments, like pearls, for a touch of class.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s Kinda Eclectic Color Challenge from Pals Paper Arts.  We’d love to have you play with us this week.  Visit Pals Paper Arts to find out how.

Holiday Leftover Masterpiece

Holiday Leftovers Amazing Wreath from Wild West Paper ARts

“Frightful-Beautiful Blooms-Sweet As Pie-Merry & Bright
Amazing Holiday Wreath”

Do you love holiday leftovers?  I do!  And sometimes a holiday leftovers yield amazing results, even in the paper crafting world, like this Holiday Leftover Masterpiece.

Here it is, a “Frightful-Beautiful Blooms-Sweet As Pie-Merry & Bright Holiday Wreath.”  Whew…that was a mouthful!  As you might guess, this was made from pulling apart or using leftovers from some Simply Created Kits and combining them with last month’s My Paper Pumpkin kit, “Sweet as Pie”.  Leftovers yield beautiful results!  If not beautiful, at least interesting.

I also love kits!  Can you tell?  Think of them as a springboard to creativity.  As you can see (by yesterday and today’s posts), kits can be used for so much more than what they’re intended.  I have to admit, this one got away from me but I do like the end result. What’s more, I managed to re-purpose a Halloween project while creating a unique item with elements from two current kit and various scraps. No wonder I LOVE My Paper Pumpkin.

Kit Products Used:

  • My Paper Pumpkin – October Kit “Sweet as Pie”
  • My Paper Pumpkin – September Kit “Boo-tiful Bags” – Leftover Tangelo Twist Sequins
  • Simply Created Frightful Halloween Wreath Kit (#135866) – Die-Cut Glimmer Web and Styrofoam wreath core
  • Many Merry Stars Simply Created Kit (#138104) – Banner and Die Cut Words
  • Burlap & Blooms Simply Created Wreath Kit (#133333) – Burlap

Substitutions and Extras:

  • Burlap – 1-1/4″ Burlap Ribbon (#132140).  However, purchase the Burlap & Blooms Simply Created Wreath Kit (#133333) at the clearance price of $7.19.  You’ll save and get some cute, cute die-cut flowers to assemble for your spring 2015 projects!  Unless, of course you’d rather have more burlap.
