For All Things Fall

For All Things Fall PPA218
Wild West Paper Arts PPA218Welcome to another beautiful trio of colors from Pals Paper Arts and For All Things Fall. Just right to usher in the change of colors.  I can’t believe it’s been over a week since updating the blog.  Whew, what a week of creating.  Look for few of the projects in the next few days.  For now, let’s focus on the colors of PPA218, Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake and Hello Honey.

If you’ve followed Wild West Paper Arts for the last couple of years you probably know that I love the leaves of autumn.  When these colors came up, there was no question what would be created.

Here’s how this cute little tag is created.

First, use your Big Shot and the Autumn Accents Bigz Die to cut a maple leaf tag (or card).

Next, use your Big Shot to add texture by embossing with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Now the fun begins.  Use a Stampin’ Sponge to distress the edges of the leaf with Hello Honey and Crumb Cake.  Finishing off the tips with Blackberry Bliss.  Use the sponge again with Crumb Cake to lightly distress the raised edges of the embossed woodgrain.  Then, use your Adhesive Remover as a stamp to add a little Blackberry Bliss to the embossed leaf. Click here to see my original post on this easy technique. Lastly, swipe 2-way Glue around the edges of the leaf and sprinkle Gold Stampin’ Glitter of the glue.  Set aside to dry.

While the base is drying, create the focal pieces using the new For All Things Stamp Set featured in the 2014 Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up!

Apply a little glitter to the leaves with 2-Way Glue, add some ribbon and you’ll have cute tags for the season.

Now hurry and enter Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge PPA218 before the deadline, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at noon eastern.  A new challenge is published this Thursday.

Four Feathers for Fall

PPA217 Four Feathers for FallWild West Paper Arts PPA217Welcome to Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge PPA217. This Clean and Simple (CAS) sketch by Nicole Watt is perfect to showcase Four Feathers for Fall created with some of the new products available in the Stampin’ Up! 2014 Holiday catalog starting today.

When I saw the Four Feathers Stamp Set (#135053 cm) and Feathers Framelits Dies (#135852) it was love at first sight. Affordable and versatile, two of my favorite adjectives. Found on Page 42 individually or as a bundle to save you 15%.  Let the creativity begin!

Four Feathers Bundle #137630

Four Feathers Bundle #137630

To create the background I started with a technique I introduced during the Pals Cool Tools blog hop a couple weeks ago.  Click here to see more. Then stamped the larger feathers feathers over the top of the background.  The fossil look is easy to achieve with these stamps.  Just don’t try to ink the stamp evenly, then stamp them off once

PPA217 Four Feathers for Fall 2Two of the small foreground feathers were stamped in different colors on Naturals White (#102316) and a third was stamped on Vellum Card stock (#101856). Stamping on vellum takes a little care. The ink doesn’t dry quickly.  It smears and gets all over the place.  Truth be told, the background was added because of ink getting where it shouldn’t be.  I was very pleased how well the Framelits cut the Vellum Card Stock .  I’ll be using it more often now.

PPA217 More Vellum Feathers

Vellum Feathers

The green “thread” is one half of the new Old Olive and Natural Two-Toned Trim (#135837).  The two colors were separated leaving a soft group of green fibers. The perfect complement for our group of feathers. The fibers and the button were glued on with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (#110755) to keep them secure.

Feathers aren’t your thing?  You’ll find lots of fun products and inspiration in the new Holiday Catalog.  Did I say “Lots?”.  I should have said oodles, and oodles!

It’s Friday, Yee-Haw!

-2014, sack race runners, Mike rt., crop.jpg_20140804.jpg

1964 Race of the Century Teammates at a recent reunion.

It’s Friday, Yee-Haw!  Let’s hear it for the weekend!  This is a special weekend for a few reasons.

First, and most importantly, my husband and his teammates are being honored tomorrow, as Grand Marshals, for their participation in the 1964 Race of the Century, in Yerington, Nevada. Click the link to read about the race. Congratulations guys!

Picture, from left to right and Nevada proud are: Steve Erb (5th Place); Richard “Pete” Burnet (4th Place); Fred Andreason (2nd Place); and Mike Lommori (1st Place).

What the article doesn’t say is that the  Nevada team had to run the race twice. Once to qualify with several other contestants from Nevada. Interesting that all of the finalists ended were local, hard-working guys.  Another fact: At the end of the official race, the Nevada team had four guys in the showers to only one from the Pennsylvania team. A real testament to the Nevada country boys.

The picture above taken at a recent reunion with some of the team members.  My hubby is the best looking one, the second from the left.  Am I a little prejudiced? Darn tootin’!

Second reason?  Is there one?

Thank you for letting me share this proud moment.  I’ll take pictures to share on Monday.

Can I get a big Yee-Haw for the “World Champion Sack Toters”?!!

It’s Friday, Yee-Haw!

A Beautiful Flower Patch

Flower Patch #134207 PPA215Wild West Paper Arts & Pals paper Arts PPA215Welcome to Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge 2 for August (PPA215).  These colors are perfect to showcase a beautiful flower patch of a stamp set called non-other than “Flower Patch”.  What a coinkadink, eh?

Flower stamps tend to be in short supply around my tack room.  Not sure why.  I love flowers and all kinds of nature.  So, when Mary Fish, asked me to pick out a stamp set for helping the Pals with some technical duties I didn’t have to think twice.  Thank you Mary! Of course the coordinating Flower Patch Framelits went on my next demonstrator order.  That’s a no-brainer for sure.

Flower Fair Framelits #133731

Flower Fair Framelits #133731

The flower only uses the one color pink, Strawberry Slush.  The “stamp off” technique makes each layer look like a different color.

Wild West A Beautiful Flower Patch layers

The bottom layer was cut with the Flower Fair Framelit. Each of the other layers were fussy cut except for the center.

Wild West A Beautiful Flower Patch layers

All layers were then popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The center of the flower is covered with Crystal Effects for a little pop.

And there you have it!  Everything you need to create a beautiful flower patch in one crystal clear stamp set.

Now it’s your turn.  Join Pals Paper Arts Design Team 2 for Color Challenge PPA215.

Pals Cool Tools Blog Hop

Wild West Paper Arts Pals Blog Hop August 2014

Welcome to the Pals Cool Tools Blog Hop for August 2014. This month we are showing off our favorite crafting tools – those Stampin’ Up! tools that we just can’t live without. We hope you enjoy our projects!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Brian King of Stamp with Brian, #5 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

I have two projects today showing completely different styles.  They both have one thing in common, the tool.  Let’s see if you can guess what the tool is.

We’ll start with a down-to-earth, little note card using the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set (#135350).

Kinda EclecticClue #1:  The tool I’m using is not a punch or a stamp set.

The second project is a glitzy, glamor card using the Bravo photopolymer set (#135380).

Bravo Stamp SetClue #2: It’s not a Big Shot (#113439) or the Stars Framelits (#133723).  It’s not even the Magnetic Platform (#130658).  Have you figured it out yet?

It’s not glamorous or obvious and not even expensive.  Are you ready for the answer?  It’s the plain-Jane Adhesive Remover (#103684).

Adhesive Eraser

Adhesive Eraser #103684

Have you figured out how it was used?  If you guessed as a stamp, you’re absolutely right!  After one of my favorite background stamps retired, I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement and found it right under my nose.

Adhesive Eraser as snowTry using it in different ways.  You could even create snow!  Don’t you just love finding multiple uses for simple tools?  Instead of taking any more time away from the hop, I’ll send you on your way.  If you’d like more info on these projects, I’ll have them in the next edition of the Wild West Gazette.  Now, on with the hop!

The next stop is Debbie Mageed of Secret Stamper, #7 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month. The Hop List is long this month but you don’t want to miss a thing!  Happy Hopping!
