Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #PPA94

If you're up for a challenge, head on over to Pals Paper Arts today.  Try your hand at designing a card with the sketch shown here.  Sketches are great if you're short on time or inspiration.  When was the last time you crafted just for the fun of it?  You can even win some blog candy.  Come on, I dare ya, hop on over and hoist your sail.  You can click on the sketch below to take you there.

My spin on this sketch uses The Open Sea stamp set #123030 (Wood) or #123032 (Clear Mount) which has become my favorite set from the Summer Mini 2011.  My uncle used to love to sail.  This is the perfect card for his upcoming birthday.

I was a knot-tieing, macrame' nut at one time.  Even made my own water-skiing ropes.  The knots tied here have many names,  Josephine or Sailor Knot are just a few.  The red border strips. were created using the new Postage Stamp Punch #122344 from the Summer Mini.  The "flag" peaking out from inside is actually part of a star.

So sail on over to the Pals today and see what my shipmates have been up to.

  1. Your macrame skills have served your well…those knots are what drew me to see the card close-up…and its awesome!  The knots are the perfect accents for the anchor and really give an "umph" to the whole theme.  The brads are great embellishments for this card as well.

  2. First, let me say that your blog is very pretty—I love it!  And this card—well, my sailing husband better not get a look at it, he'll want ME to do all those cool knots!  I barely passed that part in my boating class!  Very, very creative card!
