It’s Friday, Yee-Haw!
It’s Friday, Yee-Haw! Let’s hear it for the weekend! This is a special weekend for a few reasons.
First, and most importantly, my husband and his teammates are being honored tomorrow, as Grand Marshals, for their participation in the 1964 Race of the Century, in Yerington, Nevada. Click the link to read about the race. Congratulations guys!
Picture, from left to right and Nevada proud are: Steve Erb (5th Place); Richard “Pete” Burnet (4th Place); Fred Andreason (2nd Place); and Mike Lommori (1st Place).
What the article doesn’t say is that the Nevada team had to run the race twice. Once to qualify with several other contestants from Nevada. Interesting that all of the finalists ended were local, hard-working guys. Another fact: At the end of the official race, the Nevada team had four guys in the showers to only one from the Pennsylvania team. A real testament to the Nevada country boys.
The picture above taken at a recent reunion with some of the team members. My hubby is the best looking one, the second from the left. Am I a little prejudiced? Darn tootin’!
Second reason? Is there one?
Thank you for letting me share this proud moment. I’ll take pictures to share on Monday.
Can I get a big Yee-Haw for the “World Champion Sack Toters”?!!
It’s Friday, Yee-Haw!
Have Wildly Creative Day!
More on the 1964 Race of the Century
So good to see a photo of your husband Rae, and he definitely IS the cutest one! What a wonderful moment!
Thank you Peggy. But you can’t have him. 🙂
You better believe Rae’s Hubby has stories to tell about the race! Ask him sometime and you will want to write it all down. He puts the life right into his story telling and if you close your eyes you can see the pictures he paints.
Thank you Sis! You’re right… it’s almost like being there.
Thanks for sharing Rae. I would guess those 4 guys have many great stories about that day!
Thank you Sue. They sure do!
He is the cutest one! Definitely an accomplishment to be proud of.
Thank you Barbara. 🙂 Congratulations to you as well.

Thank you Martie!
