Dads Rock!
Mother’s Day is gone, Memorial Day is almost here and Father’s Day will be here before we know it. I don’t know about you but in my book, Dads Rock!
I’ve seen some fantastic cards made with the stone pattern from Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. Thought it was time to put my spin on it.
The “metallic” plate is made up of the under appreciated Brushed Silver Cardstock retiring this month. Little Letters Thinlits are used to die-cut “Rock”. They are then adhered to the Brushed Silver Cardstock BEFORE embossing with a Zig-Zag Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A piece of Basic Gray Cardstock is then folded over the end and finished off with two Black Candy Dots (from Neutral Candy Dots collection) with Brad Bases. The entire piece is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
People often ask me why I use Stampin’ Dimensionals instead of another brand. Other than the obvious, I have to say it’s the high-tac, low profile design. High-tac means it will stay put! Low profile means a project can have more than one popped layer and still fit in a regular envelope. With some other brands you could easily end up with a sky-high project and additional postage. Remember, the post office will charge you extra if your envelope is thicker than 1/4″.
With a sentiment like “You Rock” on the outside, this card could be used for several occasions. Just change the inside sentiment. This one is definitely for Father’s Day. The Crazy About You photopolymer stamp set is one of the most versatile phrase sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog. Just line-up the appropriate wording on your acrylic block and presto, you have the perfect phrase! You even get three images to make this a fantastic “all-around” set.
Add the Hello You Thinlits Dies and you have a bundle of savings. 15% to be exact! The word “You” on the front of this Dads Rock! card is from this set of Thinlits dies. Now THAT’s wild!

Before we go, don’t forget, there are a couple of items used to create this project that will retire this month. Get the Adventure Bound Designer Paper Stack (#137780) and the Brushed Silver Cardstock (#100712) before they’re gone forever. If I had to recommend one of them, I’d say go for the Brushed Silver Cardstock. It’s perfect for creating faux metal items like the “Metal Plate” used here. Retiring items are available through June 2, 2015 (11:59 Mountain Time) while supplies last.

This card really “Rocks”! I have seen it, and it is so realistic, really looks like metal…great job.
