Help!
I need your help! You’ve probably noticed the cowboy/cowgirl hat near the end of every post here on the blog. But, have you noticed a change in the adornment from time to time? I’m trying to change it monthly now but have a big problem. What kind of decoration screams August?
Here’s where your help is needed. Comment on this post with your idea for an August hat decoration. No graphic needed, just a short comment with your idea is all.
Here are the hats I’ve used so far.
Get the idea?
It’s hard to find good help these days so here’s your pay. Everyone that helps with a comment on this blog post will earn a PDF tutorial for the Top Note Sheriff I created a couple of years ago. Don’t remember what he looks like? Here you go…
As with any job there are specific rules. This is no different. No worries, they’re pretty darned simple.

Pretty simple, eh?
The starting pistol has sounded. Give me your best shot!
Thank you for your help!

How about a collection of feathers where you have the flowers or stars, or a bit of fur around the brim. This time of year all the wild folk are busy nesting, hatching or raising their youngun’s. Of course you could also put a bandana on it as well…ready to grab for the dusty days of August.
hmmmm, late summer into fall, how about pretty straw flowers with a BIG raffia bow.
Great idea.
I would use a sunflower
I do like that idea Holly.
Since my Cubbies are doing so well this year, how about the Cubs emblem, a baseball and a bat to support the “underdog” of the MLB!?!
Ruth…. Why am I not surprised at this? LOL!
School supplies or sunglasses remind me of August.
Rebecca…. maybe some pencils?
Rae…..in ur part of the world it is much warmer than her is Australia…..if it were for here….I’d have a snowflake or a flourish that wld resemble a gust of wind. However in the warmer months……a long tall glass of something refreshing, perhaps a picnic blanket or basket/beach ball or beach umbrella wld be more appropriate for you now. What type of hats to you folks wear in the Summertime??? Could one be fashioned to look like your wild west one???
Good luck finding the right thing for that cute hat ooxx
Hmm…Lynda how about one of those cute little umbrellas served with some summer drinks?
I think I must be old fashioned, I’m partial to the basic one….
Cookie, that’s my favorite too.
How about feathers.
I love feathers Norma!
I think something representing different activities we do in August.
Barb… can you be specific?
How about the stars in silver to match the sheriff.
Hmm… that sounds interesting.
I just had some watermelon but that might look goofy on a hat. How about a wheat stalk thing – hey, I am in Iowa and not Kansas or Nebraska where I think wheat grows! Can’t quite put a cornstalk on a hat! Feathers are always good!
LOL Chris! I like the wheat or the feathers.
I like the sunflower idea or even a zinnia or marigold/mum? What I am thinking is a fly swatter or mosquito repellent stuck up there! Maybe horse shoes? I do like the stars though- maybe different colored stars?
OMG Fly swatter!!!! LOL!
Flowers with a butterfly.
Portrait of mother in a belt buckle frame.
Macramé hat band.
Lasso hat band with a WW (Wild West) “brand”.
A chicken sitting on a nest (because the cows want us to eat more chicken).
A tie-dyed hat (for those “retro” cowboys) – a peace sign on the side is a bonus
A wide ribbon hat band with a big bow.
Karin… you’re on a roll!
Sunflowers!!
Nice. I like that. Maybe sunflowers with a horseshoe?
A Maltese cross for a fire dept cowboy and a Star of Life for a paramedic cowboy
Wow! Now that’s thinkin!
I like the stars!
Stars are good any time of the year.
