The Cucumber Polka
And a one-a and a two-a… let’s do the Cucumber Polka. Polka dot that is.
This is another card created for the 30 Day Card Challenge, Day 28. Full disclosure… it’s been upgraded. The original, below, needed something more. Out came the circle punch and Cucumber Crush cardstock. Much better!
The butterfly was created with Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies (138135) and Cucumber Crush cardstock and grew a layer of Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum left over from Sale-A-Bration 2016.
What’s retiring?
- Cucumber Crush 1″ Dotted Lace Trim (138423)
- Shine On Specialty Designer Series Paper (140579)
- Curvy Trio Corner Punch (139683)
Shine-on is definitely a special paper. A really interesting mix of bright or shiny detail brought down to earth with subtle kraft. One side of the paper is printed with beautiful, brightly colored pat terns. The reverse images are silver foiled. The heavier weight makes it perfect for creating cute gift boxes with your favorite Framelits Dies. You may remember an earlier card created with another sheet from this package, Suite Sayings Birthday. In that example I used one of the Watermelon Wonder prints with the Watermelon Wonder 1″ Stitched Ribbon (140580) introduced in the 2016 Occasions catalog and retiring next month.
The inside is just as fun. Use the Curvy Trio Corner Punch (139683), also retiring, to frame the sentiment. Don’t forget to sponge the edges.

Everyone knows there are reruns of the old shows! Oh crap, I missed your take on Ginger’s sketch. Oh well, I liked the candles and it was a fun card. Oh and Cedar Rapids, IA has a large Czech population and they do the polka I am sure, well pretty sure. And actually my CTMH demo plays the accordion and she is older than me!
Oh, sounds like fun! thank you Chris.
Next we will have champagne bubbles like on Lawrence Welk! I am still smiling thinking about the one-and-a two-a! Fun cards and not sure which one I prefer. Spoken like a true fence sitter, huh? Love the inside treatment with that curvy corner trio. I just received mine this week which I had ordered earlier before I knew it was retiring. Speaking of retiring, the polka dotted lace trim is also going away. I received a present and they used this ribbon to tie it all up and it looked so fun! That shine on paper is retiring too I understand. I received some in a share but have not used it yet. Where did you use the Botanical Gardens Vellum stuff left from Sale-a-bration? What stamp set is the inside sentiment from? Did I miss reading it? The white perfect accents are staying still aren’t they – just all the fun candy dots are walking the plank? Hey, I had eye surgery and those little retired lines in the lists bug me! Anyway, fun cards – anyone have an accordion?
Chris…. I guess we’re dating ourselves with this one. LOL! You write the BEST comments… thank you!
I’m looking up the name of the stamp set and will get back to you later.
Have a fantastic day!
