Playful Celebration for PPA307
Time to play PPA! Today Brian King, my fellow Color Challenge Design Team member gives us just the right color trio for a Playful Celebration. Come join us!
Brian’s color choices are Night of Navy, Pool Party and Real Red perfect for a patriotic display, don’t you think? Before you say, “Wait a minute, I thought colors of a US patriot were Red, White & Blue”, think about the fireworks we enjoy on the 4th of July. As paper artists aren’t we allowed a little freedom?
Now that we’ve got that settled… on with the show.
Even though these colors aren’t quite what you’d expect for a patriotic project, I just had to give it a whirl. Pool Party adds a fun twist, don’t you think? The original plan was to make a weighted base for a balloon bouquet. Unfortunately, the helium fairy forgot to drop off a tank so today’s project turned into a table decoration. Necessity really is the mother of invention, right? It’s probably a good thing she didn’t drop in. Who knows what kind of cartoon characters could emerge with a tank of helium around.
Caution: Glitter haters may want to skip this one. Suffice it to say, I’m all ready to twinkle the night away.
Pool Party Glimmer Paper: No, we don’t have a new Glimmer Paper color but you can make your own. Here’s how. You’ll need a Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper; Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill; and a Stamping Sponge.
- Squirt a little Pool Party Ink directly on the glimmer paper or sponge. Careful, a little goes a long way. You can also use your stamp pad but the refill works a little quicker.
- Smear or dab it around until you get the intensity you like. Let dry or use the low setting on your heat gun to speed up drying.
- Cut with Framelit of your choice. When cutting, make sure the die is against the back (white side) of the paper.
Voila! Color coordinated Glimmer Paper!
How do Night of Navy, Pool Party and Real Red speak to you? Time to exercise that creativity muscle and play with us for PPA307. Here’s what you need to know.

Fun and festive centerpiece. What, do I need to get up early to be the first one to say this? Seems Susan and Brian stole my idea. Love your 3D take on the challenge. I bet the balloons would send it over the top! The pool party color reminds me of the patina on the Statue of Liberty. Fun and creative idea!
