International Gratitude Plank Style
Thank you for visiting today and welcome to Wild West Paper Arts. It’s that time again. It’s time for Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Hightlights. The theme this month, gratitude. or what today’s post calls International Gratitude Plank Style. Funny name, right? Yes and no. Gratitude is truly an international gesture no matter what language you speak. Plank Style… well, that’s just me. Once again, I’ll be asking (begging) for your vote. There’s an “Easy Voting Button” toward the end.
Inspiration comes from a repurposed pallet found on Pinterest. The artist created a welcome sign by painting a huge daisy on the pallet with the word “Welcome” across the top. Simple and beautiful.
Planks & Daisies Take a look at the header for this website and you’ll see why this card just had to be made. Right?! Unfortunately at this writing, the Daisy Punch is on backorder for the second time since it’s introduction in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog from Stampin’ Up! Just shows to go you how popular daisies are. Be patient, it will be back.
Create texture impressions by stamping and layering BEFORE dry embossing with the Wood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder (143708). Glue down only where absolutely necessary so a few elements look like they’re “peeling” off the wood. This embossed image looks as good on the flip side as it does on the side you see here. Turn it over to reveal an image that mimics a hard wood plank floor. I predict this Textured Embossing Folder will get a lot of mileage this year. So, why not put the daisy on AFTER embossing? Simple, I was going for the look of painting on the rustic wooden pallet or fence. Soft Suede Classic Ink (126978) was sponged on to add that rustic feel. Don’t forget to rough up the edges a bit with your Paper Snips too.
Unexpected knots are found all through a plank. Although I wasn’t able to knock out a knot hole in these planks, Mini Chevron Ribbon (Crushed Curry #144197) creates an alternative here.
- Tie an overhand knot
- Punch a hole in the center of your daisy
- Feed both ends of the ribbon through the hole and fasten the ends to the back of the cardstock.
The inside can be just as fun and interesting as the front and the Daisy Delight Stamp Set (143669) makes it a cinch. Every stamped image you see on this card is from this set. Take a look… so many cute elements.
Shimmer doesn’t always have to be over the top and glitzy. Sometimes you can use things like the new Faceted Gems (Gold #144141) even on a wood plank fence! Here they’re used to imitate nail heads but so much more fun.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this International Gratitude project. If you like this card, please take a moment to vote. I’m #29 in the International Blog Highlights Gallery. Last month I was in the top ten because of your votes. Being in the top ten earns me a place in a special Blog Hop.

What color is the card base? I love this card, you did a wonderful job.
Hi Laura…. I used Crumb Cake for the card base. Thank you so much for your comment.
Rae, this card was the inspiration for the latest round of the Oh So Inspired collab on YouTube, which I host. All of the crafters used your card as inspiration to create their own piece. I hope you will check out my video and all of the other ladies are linked in the description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4UkY1AVreM&t=69s Thanks for the inspiration.
Wow! Thank you Alicia. Who would have thought a simple little card like this would be inspiration for you. Thank you and I’ll definitely take a look and comment.
GREAT card. I LOVE it. Wish I’d seen the vote earlier…..definitely would have voted for this. Could you tell me what you used the Crushed Curry cardstock for?
Thank you Sue. I used the Crushed Curry for the center of the daisy. It doesn’t really show behind the ribbon. Thanks for asking Sue
