It’s time for this month’s International Blog Highlights hosted by Kylie Bertucci.  Bet you can’t guess the theme. If you guessed “Back to School” you’re very, very close.  It’s actually “Teacher’s Gifts” this month and I’ve been dreaming of this day since July.  Dear Teacher, We’re Back is a project I’ve had swimming in my head since the 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog was released.

Inspiration comes from a memory long ago. Although I lived seven miles out of town, I didn’t attend one of these little schoolhouses. However, there was an old, weathered schoolhouse, on skids, parked across the road on another ranch. Dreams would dance in my head of what it must have been like when it was used. It also just happened to be when the TV series “Little House on the Prairie” was popular.

One Room Schoolhouse Trivia  Wonder why the building was on skids?  It was mobile.  The house could be moved to a different location if need be.

The Gift.  To create this gift for teacher, you’ll need the Home Life Bundle (145311)  As mentioned in a previous post, (Cut Flowers for the Pals), this bundle was NOT on my “A” list.  However, in keeping with a promise I made to myself, it found it’s way to my “Tack Room”.

Wood Siding is added to all exposed pieces, using the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (143708). If you want dimension, go for the “dynamic” embossing folders. You’ll love the look and feel.

The Box is created from scratch, then the “siding” is applied giving the box more stability.  Little embellishments like Metallic Enamel Shapes and Linen Thread finish off this welcoming, little red schoolhouse.

Stuff it with goodies.  This one is filled with #2 pencils, sweet treats and crinkle paper. The bottom is weighted with little glass florist marbles to keep it from tipping. They also help keep the pencils in place.  Candy helps too!
