Pretty Sparkling Pines and Wood Gift Tag
Pretty Sparkling Pines for the Pals December 2017 Blog Hop “All that Sparkles and Shines.”
Welcome to the Pals December 2017 Blog Hop featuring “All that Sparkles and Shines”. Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
What makes you think Sparkle and Shine? Diamonds, crystal, stardust…. and wood. Or, in this case, a textured Crumb Cake Cardstock gift tag.
Our Color Palette:
The “Wood” is created in several steps. The good thing, these steps are easy.
- Using Crumb Cake Classic Ink, stamp the tag with Timeless Textures Images.
- Sponge distress the edges with Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler Classic Inks.
- Create Texture with Wood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
- Sponge the edges of the tag with VersaMark then heat emboss with White Stampin’Emboss Powder.
Pine Boughs are cut from three different papers, The pine boughs are cut from Garden Green Cardstock for some realistic color. Pretty sparkling pines are created with Gold Glimmer paper, Fabulous Foil Acetate.
All Tied Up with Natural Gold Trim. How did I create the Cherry Cobbler trim? I took a piece of the trim and drug it over a Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink pad.

Thank you Sally!
Love the touch of wood plank embossing to boost the WOW! factor!
Thanks a bunch Mary. You know, I LOVE my wood. My home is proof.
I need need need this tutorial; tag matches a gift I’m wrapping and delivering soon 🙂
That sounds like a really cool gift C.
Love this barn wood appearance! Sure am looking forward to receiving the tutorial! Beautiful!
Thank you Kelly!
Rae – I love your tag! Rustic is one of my favorites – I remember the days when tearing the paper and roughing the edges was popular.
You have an amazing eye for detail!
Thank you Becky. I remember those days too. I’ve never really gotten over them, can you tell?
Rae, this is truly a work of art that sparkles and shines! I love how you created this project and gave us all the instructions. I might just have to try my hand at this idea. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you Jennifer.
P.S. In my newsletter today, I told subscribers they would get a Free Tutorial for this if we reach 100 comments by Friday night.
Share & Pass it on!
What a great rustic look, that still sparkles and shines!
Thank you Lisa!
This is so darn realistic like a sign made out of barn wood! Gorgeous or stunning is more like it. I love this. Not sure what the oops part is you were covering up but it worked! Love it!
Thank you so much Chris. Actually, I didn’t cover up my oops, it just works with the rustic, aged look. It’s the red bleed through on the creamy ribbon and the gold Noel behind the Whisper White. The gold didn’t show up well so I took a VersaMark marker and traced over the gold embossing, then embossed with Whisper White. I love the result. To me it looks like someone painted the word on an old fence with a brush.
You are so right about painting on the fence! Simply stunning like I said before. Let’s see, I commented twice (replying to your reply) so if everybody comments back from your comment we are on our way to 100 comments. Let’s see I could use my husband’s E-mail for a comment and set up an account for Ted, our basset hound but he probably would get more E-mail than I do!
I really want to see the comment from Ted, the basset hound. Thanks Chris!
Rae, I love the combo of rustic wood with sparkle and shine. Nice!
Thank you Kathy. This is absolutely my favorite style. A great way to hide the little “oops moments”.
