Home for the Holidays with Pals
Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
This month, the theme is Home for the Holidays. We really hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
My projects feature alternate ideas for the October 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit, “Home for the Holidays”. How perfect is that? These kits are so versatile. Depending on the kit and some imagination (or help from the internet) you can sometimes double the amount of projects that the kit instructions suggest. So, let’s get started.
The first alternate is an inside-out, make-over. But before I explain, let’s look at parts of the kit. I’ve labelled the parts I used to create these two cards.
Alternate #1 uses both of the two card bases. A leftover pieces will be used for alternate #1.
- Turn one card base inside out and burnish well with a bone folder. The image will now be on the inside.
- Cut the second card on the score line. Trim off 1/4″ from the top and one side of the blank piece. After cutting, you will emboss with your favorite embossing folder. I used Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder (retired). Snowflakes or stars would also work well. Adhere to the card base. Save the unused piece for Alternate #2.
- Trim 1/4″ off one side of the layered piece (noted above). It should now be the same width (4″) as the embossed background. Adhere to the embossed background.
- Adhere the three trees to the layered piece in step 3. The largest tree is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Create the banner as instructed in the kit. Attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp a greeting on the inside of the card.
- Use Glitter Glue to draw snow drifts and put ornaments to the large tree. Let dry.

Alternate #2 – You’ll need the unused piece cut from the 2nd card base in Step 2 above. You’ll also need a notecard-sized card base. 3-1/2″ x 5″ folded; and a 2-7/8″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock or DSP
- Crop the leftover picture to 2-3/4″ x 4-1/8″. Adhere to the Cherry Cobbler piece mentioned above.
- Adhere the layers from Step 1 to the card base.
- Create the label. Adhere to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Decorate with leftover die cuts from other projects. I used trees from Tree Lot Dies leftover from a different project.
When coming up with alternate ideas, I try use only the supplies included in the Paper Pumpkin Kit if at all possible. In many cases, (like Alternate #2), I incorporate scraps and pieces left on my workspace from different projects. Be creative, try to use what you have.
More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop next month, when our theme will be Winter Wonderland.
Until then, have fun in your craft space.
