All About the Fold for Creative Creases #82

I chose a standard “Gate Fold” for my project today. What makes this gatefold different is the sliding mechanism that locks the gate closed. Since I don’t know what the mechanism is called, let’s go with a Gatefold Sliding Lock.
Let’s get started.
Behind the slider you’ll find another layer of Zinnias to jazz up the card front after the slider is removed.
Finally, the inside. Gatefolds are so much fun to decorate.
Nuts & Bolts
Note: The instructions are for the Sliding Lock only.
Paper Cuts
- Basic White CS or color you prefer: 3″ x 3″; 4 pieces (two of them scored and folded at 1-1/2″ These are the wings.); plus scrap for mat behind greeting
- Lemon Lime Twist CS: 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″; plus scrap for greeting.
- Zinnia DSP: 3″ x 3″
Construction
Note: Refer to images below for guidance.
- Line- up the folded “wings” and adhere to one of the 3″x3″ cardstock pieces with a strong adhesive. I used Tear & Tape.
- Adhere the second, unfolded 3″ x 3″ square to the over the top of the “wings”. I used Tear & Tape.
- Build the focal piece on top of the Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock piece.
- Adhere the focal piece to the finished mechanism paying close attention to the direction of the finished piece.
- Slide the “wings” of the mechanism over the gatefold opening to lock closed.
Now it’s your turn. What fold will you create for Creative Creases Challenge #82? You don’t even need a blog.
