Creative Creases #93: Tepee Fold Treat
Welcome to Creative Creases Issue #93 where “Anything Goes with a Fun Fold”. Need inspiration? Check out the galleries and see what other crafters have entered. You’ll find a link to the current gallery toward the end of this post.
I have a Tepee Fold Treat for you today. You may have seen this as a card, and that’s what I started out to do. However, as it came together, it looked like the perfect treat holder.
The treat hangs inside, secured by the bow at the top. To release the treat, simply untie the bow. Then you have a cute decoration for display.
Decorations come from the sticker sheet included in the Halloween Spells DSP & Sticker Sheet package (#166610). A a few gems were added for a little bling.
Nuts & Bolts
Paper Cuts
- Teepee Base: Basic Black Cardstock – 4″ x 4″ (cut 3); score each in half diagonally
- Pattern Paper: 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ (cut 2); cut each in half diagonally
Construction
- Line up the first two scored squares as shown below. Draw a line at the bottom edge of the top square.
- Remove the top square and apply liquid glue as shown in figure 2 below. Place the top square back over the glue and press down.
- Repeat step 2 with the third square, placing it on the left side. Refer to Figure 3.
- Use liquid glue to adhere patterned paper as shown in Figure 4.
- Place candy in cellophane bag. Fold the flap down and punch a hole through all layers. Loop twine or ribbon through the hole to secure as if you were creating a tag.
- Referring to Figure 5, lay the candy down making sure the string/ribbon is coming out the top of the base. Adhere the last flap of the base. Let dry.
- Stand the teepee up, holding on the the ribbon. Tie a firm bow at the top.
- Decorate the sides as desired.
- To release the dandy, simply untie the bow.

Wow – that’s so cool! Love how you get the little peeks of all the designer papers! Such a fun fold! And now I have to try this – with treat bags! 🙂
Thank you Mary. 🙂
Oh, Rae, your Halloween teepee treat card is adorable and perfectly done. I have never done this fold before (triangles make me nervous LOL) but you make it look like something I can handle! Have a great weekend, my friend!
Thank you Debbie. Watch for a Christmas Tree version soon.
Brillant design, Rae! And so cute with the Halloween theme and that gorgeous sparkly ribbon! I love teepee cards but never thought to make one into a treat holder for Halloween! Thanks for the idea!
Carrie, thank you. Can’t wait to see your version.
Oh man, I gotta make some of these. I am hoping it is as easy as your directions show. Looks amazing. Love the way it holds the treat. Maybe I need to see if any more of that sparkly ribbon is on clearance. I am all about the treat holder!
Thank you Chris. Once you make one, the rest will come together easily.
This is so cool! I have made one of these (a long time ago), but adding the treat bag inside is ingenious! TFS!
Thank you LeAnne. When I saw this fold “Treat Holder” was the first thing that came to mind.
