Make Some Noise for the New Year
How do you celebrate New Year’s Eve? Dinner, parties, fireworks, staying home by the fire? Regardless of your tradition, it’s always nice to make some noise at the stroke of midnight.
You’ve probably seen this sour cream type pouch used for treats. But have you seen them filled with rice (or something else) to make noise? So easy!
All you need is a 4″ x 6″ piece of patterned paper, some adhesive and a filling. Embellishments of your choice are optional. Great way to use up your paper horde as I did here. I’ve done these with 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ also. The 4″ x 6″ makes using up an entire sheet of 12″x12″ paper easy with no waste.
Nuts & Bolts
Paper Cuts:
- Base – Patterned Paper 4″ x 6″ (1 piece per container) Figure 1
Construction:
- Apply a strong adhesive along the 4″ side (like Tear & Tape). Figure 2
- Roll container into a cylinder shape and adhere to the taped side. It should look like a toilet paper core Figure 3
- Flatten one open end of the cylinder and seal. Figure 3
- Tip: Make sure the side seam of the tube is not on a fold. This will help keep your seam from separating. See the close up in Figure 5.
- Fill tube with desired contents Figure 4 –
- For a noise maker – fill about 1/3 of the container with rice or beans. Filling only 1/3 to 1/2 of the pouch will allow the contents to rattle.
- For Treat Holder – fill with goodies.
- Flatten the open end in the opposite direction and seal. Figure 5
- Embellish as desired.
These easy pouches are great for:
- Party Favors
- Weddings
- Treat Holders
- Alternative to Table Place Cards
- What else? If you can think of another use, mention it in your comment.
