Throw WAYback Thursday: Sheltering Tree
Who loves autumn colors? This is one of my very favorite autumn cards (and stamp sets) from the past. Every so often it’s fun to revisit old projects. When it falls on a Thursday it’s a “Throwback Thursday”. In this case it’s a Throw WAYback Thursday. Back to 2015, to be exact. It’s time to do a little updating with current (or upcoming) products from Stampin’ Up!

Firstly, we need to update color. Let’s compare the old to colors available now.

Original Color Pallet

New Color Pallet
Personally, I like the new color pallet better. It’s brighter, more vibrant. What do you think?
Now for the stamp set. Loveliest Tree Cling Stamp Set is the closest current set I found.
I’m not able to show you an updated sample as I don’t have this bundle. Psst…. you didn’t hear this from me (wink, wink) but, there is another “tree” bundle and suite that has a couple of beautiful trees, coming in September.
My original post from 2015
“It’s Thursday. Time to get out your toys and play PPA271 Color Challenge with me and my Pals.
Hello Honey, Old Olive and Soft Suede are all gathered together this week. It was really difficult to keep Cajun Craze from creeping in to the mix.
The stamp set? Sheltering Tree (item 137163) one of Stampin’ Up!s photopolymer stamp sets. Although this stamp set came out last spring, it’s handy for every season.
Get “The Look”. It’s super easy.
- Stamp the tree trunk and branches with Soft Suede on Water Color Paper
- Using a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker to apply shading to tree trunk.
- Stamp the large cluster of leaves with hello Honey over the tree trunk.
- Give it dimension: Highlight some of the leaves using a blender pen and Hello Honey Refill. Then, use the small leaf cluster to stamp Old Olive sporadically over the Hello Honey leaves.
- Bling it: Drop small amounts of glue with the Fine Tip Glue Pen around the leaf cluster. Sprinkle with gold glitter before the glue dries.
Easy, eh?”

This is beautiful, Rae. I gave my set to a friend when I lived in FL…now I wish I still had it!
Thank you Karen. When I revisited this project I was wishing I hadn’t given mine away either. ARGH!
I like the new updated colors too. I still have this stamp set. I just love it.
Thank you Linda. It think I wore mine out!
I love being reminded of beloved sets sitting on my shelf that could use some attention. Thanks for today’s throwback!
