Banner Greetings America!
Happy Birthday America! I’m so thankful for you! What are you thankful for? So, what do you say we celebrate the national colors, well, kind of. Pals Paper Arts gives us a spin on the traditional this week with their challenge. Are you up for it?
Immediately, I thought of aged wood and the old, wooden patriotic plaques that are so popular. Hearts a Flutter Stamps and Framelits are perfect for this.
Sentiments for a patriotic themed card can be a challenge. The decision to combine Thankful for You and Happy Birthday from the Banner Greetings Hostess Set conveyed my feeling perfectly.
The background was stamped with the Woodgrain Stamp using Crumb Cake Classic Ink. Then it was dry embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Embossing Folder as was all of the small elements.
All pieces were distressed with a Sponge Dauber and Crumb Cake Ink and distressed using the Distressing Tool. What’s Independence Day without a little “Raz-ma-taz”? Add a little bling with Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
The finished project looks like the banners displayed along a parade route in any old town America.

“Free”style Friday Update:
Last week I invited you to send me a project via email so I could CASE and put my own spin on it. One person had the courage to send in a sample. Her card, and my spin on it will be featured this Saturday, July 6, 2013. Don’t forget to come back to see her beautiful project. Thank you Janell for playing along.
Happy Birthday America!
Thank you for spending part of your day with me.
Oh my gosh, Rae! Every little detail of this is fabulous! I love how you used TWO of the banner greetings for this patriotic card. The textures, layering, distressing, well, just everything, is stunning!
I love your take on the challenge this week Rae. Your banner, the woodgrain embossing….simply perfect! 🙂
