Chalky the Snowman
“Chalky” the Snowman was a very merry soul…… Now that I have the song dancing in your head… for those that celebrate Thanksgiving, hope it was grand!
Here in Reno, the temperature has taken a sudden turn south. And I don’t mean south of the border… I mean ccccold. Here’s a picture taken in my yard yesterday morning. The first significant snowfall of the season. Beautiful.
Now, back to Chalky. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love the Chalkboard Technique. With just a little Whisper White Craft Ink, a Sponge Dauber or Stamping Sponge, and your favorite stamp you can create something really unique. For Chalky, I also added some hand drawn flourishes with a White Signo Pen.
The Chalkboard Technique in Three Easy Steps!
- Stamp and heat emboss the image with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black card stock
- Smudge Whisper White Craft Ink over the Basic Black Card Stock with a Sponge Dauber or Stamping Sponge.
- Let dry.
A fun technique that packs a log of WOW!
Although the Snow Day Stamp Set comes with everything you need to build Chalky’s face, I chose to use Pearl Basic Jewels for his eyes and mouth. They’re colored with a black permanent marker. Buttons were created with Dazzling Details in Cherry Cobbler and his bow tie is made from a scrap of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.
Now that I have a sample, it’s time to head outside and create the real thing! What do you think?
Before you leave, here’s another example of the Chalkboard Technique using the Joyful Christmas Stamp Set.
