Critter Capers with my Pals
critter capers
Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Cute Critters” – showcasing their card/project with adorable animals, birds, or insects for any occasion. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
From cute to elegant there sure are a lot of Critters to choose from. You can find critters that fly, crawl, creep and swim. Some have fur, and others have scales. If you’re looking for a beautifully quick card you can’t go wrong with these laser-cut dragonflies hovering over a favorite patterned paper, Dandy Laser-Cut paper over a piece of “Well Suited” designer series paper, to b e exact.
Cool tool…the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch is a new one for me. I didn’t really think I “needed” it and now I’ve fallen in love with it. Here, I punched the greeting piece, as well as some Night of Navy cardstock for extra dimension.
Kick it up a notch by adding self-adhesive Opal Rounds that pick up color from your project. Sweet little gems, for sure! Tie it all up with three-strand bow.
Pop It Up! Thank heaven for Mini-Stampin’ Dimensionals! They sit secretly behind the dragonfly wings to pop the Laser-Cut paper over the DSP. Makes a huge difference in the finished project.
Finish it off with a simple greeting inside that includes a spray of these little critters.
Want to know a secret? Growing up, I was scared to DEATH of dragonflies! No joke! My Irish Grandma told a lot of tall tales. Truth be told, I think she believed many of them. Anyway, she used to say, “Dragonflies are the devil’s darning needle. When children tell a lie they’ll swoop in and sew their mouth shut.” Yikes! Stick around, I’ll share some more of what makes me who I am in the future.
More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on April 14th when our theme is “Great Family Occasions” when our Design Team creates a project for any special occasion. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft space.

Critter Capers Product Roundup
LOVE the card you created! Little tip: when stacked upon each other, mini glue dots will elevate beautifully and nearly invisibly, although the elevation is not as big as when using mini dimensionals.
Crafty hugs,
Ineke,
the Netherlands
Thank you Ineke. I have used that technique before it’s fantastic! Thank you for sharing your tip with us.
Simply beautiful.
Thank you Pam!
Gorgeous card! I love the blue floral paper peeking out underneath. I have this laser paper and haven’t opened it yet. Will be CASing this awesome card! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Jeanie. Open it! You’ll love it. There are single dragonflies in the package that can be sponged. In fact, I used them today on another quick card for a group I host monthly.
This card is just gorgeous, Rae! I love how you popped up the dragonflies. And, thanks for the “grandmother story” – I will really work to make sure my new grandson doesn’t grow up scared from anything I told him! I will leave that to his dad!
Thank you Debbie. So glad you won’t be passing this on. 😉
Stunning card Rae and I loved hearing the story about your grandmother!
Thank you Beth. So glad you enjoyed it.
Rae I love how you made these dragonflies look they are all one big die! It’s very effective. Awesome card!
Thank you Karen. I wish I could say I hand placed the dragonflies, but I didn’t. It’s actually paper!
Oh my goodness Rae, my mother (also Irish) told me the same thing, resulting in my not liking dragonflies to this day. But I do love your pretty card and the fact that they’re a laser cut paper. Great idea!
Too funny Rosanne. I bet we have a lot of those “Tall Irish Tales” in common.
Stunning card, Rae! What a tale though!!! I’d be scared of them too. LOL
Thank you Tricia… I have so many stories!
Rae, I love the blue mix of colors with the background ds paper. The addition of those pearls with the dragonflies is great! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you Jennifer.
Rae, I love that floral DSP and haven’t used it enough. What you did with it is beautiful! This card is definitely a stunner!
Thank you Debbie!
Just gorgeous Rae! Love the way you’ve used to opal rounds!
Thank you Peggy. I just love those little opals.
Love the laser paper, so cute!
Thank you Jennifer!
So pretty Rae. I love all those dragonflies. Gorgeous!!!
Thank you Melissa. Funny thing, I was scared to death of these flying critters when I was younger. My Irish Great-Grandmother called them “The Devil’s Darning Needle”! She had some pretty wild stories.
Beautiful, Rae! The white dragonflies really pop against the dark background!
Thank you Su. I originally had the dragonflies over one of the Fine Art Floral dsp. They just didn’t pop.
Beautiful work here! A pleasure to see how you put your own stamp on Cute Critters!
Thank you Deb! I just wanted to be different. No, not me! LOL!
I’m not sure how I missed that laser cut paper! But now I’m sold. This is so pretty.
Thank you Jackie! I love laser-cut images. Crisp and beautiful. They make it so easy to create a quick project.
