Oh, Hello Primrose
Oh, hello. How’s your weekend going? Here in Northern Nevada, and most of the west, we’re having a heat wave. Not too bad here but just over the Sierra’s, in the Sacramento Valley, it’s a scorcher. Plus…. lots of humidity. My family in Northern California told me it was a “balmy” 111o yesterday. Ouch! I remember those days. Glad to have the dry heat of Reno right about now and really appreciate the 100 degrees we had yesterday. Today will be a bit warmer. It was already 92o by 11am and I guess we’re headed for triple digits. Prime for thunder storms and the sky looks heavy. Great day to say indoors and work on paper craft challenges.
Lets start with the most recent Color Challenge from Pals Paper Arts PPA160. Primrose Petals, Gumball Green and Whisper White, a beautiful, soft combination that immediately makes me think of the Mexican Evening Primrose that grows so well in Northern Nevada. They’re a gardener’s dream plant.
That being said, it’s easy to see why I picked the Oh, Hello Stamp Set for this project. The Primrose Petal flower is perfect against the backdrop of Whisper White.
The Whisper White helps to tone done the pink which can be overwhelming. Color was applied directly to the stamp with Stampin’ Write Markers instead of stamping with Classic Ink. Both Gumball Green and Primrose Petals come in the 2012-2014 In-Color Stampin’ Write Marker collection.
If you look at the flower closely, you’ll see a darker shade of pink in some areas. Raspberry Ripple, part of the same package, was used to keep the image from looking flat. It was added directly to the stamp, after coloring with Primrose Petals. Imagine how you can color it with MDS. Yes! This stamp set is also available as an MDS Digital Download. Perfect for a hybrid card. Yay!
As with most creations in the “Tack Room”, this one evolved. It started with a mat of Primrose Petals Card Stock behind the embossed layer of Whisper White. Look close and you’ll also see Gumball Green Card Stock. Paper-piercing was added to tie the “Perfect Polka Dots” together with the focal piece. But there was still something lacking. Not enough green. The straight lines on the 3/8″ Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon breaks up all of the dots nicely. I’ve always liked stripes and polka dots combined.
For a tip on how the ribbon is held in place, don’t forget to download the Nuts & Bolts PDF below.
Add a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels and we’re done!
