Pals Earth Day Blog Hop
Welcome to the Pals Earth Day Blog Hop. As you move through our April Blog Hop, you’ll see projects that feature recycled, re-purposed, or natural themed elements just in time for Earth Day!
You may be starting the blog hop here or you may have hopped over from Debbie Mageed at Secret Stamper, Stop #6 of the Hop Line-up. Either way, you’ll find the full lineup below to will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.
Can you guess what my project is? Here’s a hint… it holds craft necessity.
If you guessed a Craft Mat Holder, you would be right!
Do you use a rubber band to tote your craft mat from crop to crop? Time to class it up a bit and recycle at the same time, starting with a paper towel cardboard core. Everything used to create this earthy cover is scrap or would be garbage except the Gold Baker’s Twine. The trick is to use what you have on hand. No cheating!
The core was wrapped with corrugated craft paper, some leftover birch paper from last fall and extra buttons left over from last year. The corrugated paper is doing double duty. Not only does it decorate the plain cardboard tube, it also makes it more sturdy. Everything is held together with hot melt glue.
I’ve been meaning to create this project for quite some time. Now it’s done!
The next stop is Jackie Diediker at Stampin’ Jackie, Stop #8 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you next month.

What a fabulous idea! I love this, and that birch paper is stunning! Lovely job!
Thank you Jackie. Wish I could take credit for the basic idea of the Paper Towel Core. 🙂
Very clever…love the birch bark paper!!!
Thank you Carol. I’ll be sad when I’ve used it all.
Yes, my mat goes cropping in a rubber band…maybe that needs to change. I’ve been inspired!
LOL Dawn! You’re the only one that has confessed. 🙂 Thank you for the comment.
Rae, your craft mat holder is so attractive; no one would ever guess it was made from scraps and throw-aways. Beautiful!
Thank you Diane. 🙂
Rae, This is such a great project. I love the look of the project, and your photography is sooooo appealing.
Thanks a bunch Brian… the stage is set.
people would certainly be jealous of your craft mat holder!

Thanks a bunch Mary!
LOVE this idea, Rae! Off to pin it so I don’t forget to CASE, lol! Yes, I have all those scraps, etc, too!! 🙂
Katy, can’t wait to see your version. Thank you.
This is beautiful Rae! Love how you pulled all these elements together!
Thank you Kerry! I’ve had these things sitting in a corner staring at me for months. I guess I just needed Earth Day!
Rae, that is just beautiful. You will have to watch so no one tries to take it home with them from a crop!
Thank you Sue. I know what you mean. Most of the scrappers I see use bare paper towel cores. Sounds like a class!
LOVE so much – that birch paper really makes this over-the-top fabulous!! <3
Thank you Natlie. I knew I was saving that paper for something.
Rae, your upcycling skills are top-notch! I am hoarding that birch paper and this is a great way to use it. Love it!
Thank you Debbie. Time to make that Birch Paper work!
