Poppin’ Soda Pop Top Jewelry
One more “Farewell” post today featuring items from the 2013 Spring Catalog. You may be wondering why I’ve had so many posts featuring retiring products lately. Well, it’s a long story. I made a last-minute decision to enter a contest. The projects felt rushed so the decision was made not to enter the contest after all. The good news…. lots of fun things to share with you, like this Poppin’ Soda Pop Top Jewelry!
Anyway, I’ve fallen in love with these Soda Pop Tops (#129388). Too bad they’re not carried over to the new catalog. Bummer! Just when I started to discover new ways to make them shine. Guess what’s going on my order today?! The Soda Pop Tops were paired with Tea for Two Designer Series Paper (#129311) also retiring today. What a romantic duo!
If you’re looking for a cute and inexpensive, vintage gift, this is it! Here are the steps.
- Flatten the bottle caps with your big shot. Use standard pads with no tabs.
- Punch Designer Series Paper (DSP) of your choice with Circle Punches (1″ for large, 1/2″ for small).
- Adhere the punched circles to the Soda Pop Tops using Multi-purpose Liquid Glue. Let dry. Takes about 30 minutes to dry completely.
- Pendants:
- Small Soda Pop Tops:
- Apply Crystal Effects over the DSP making sure to seal completely to the edge. Be careful… DO NOT SHAKE TO BOTTLE!
- Place a Basic Pearl in the center while Crystal Effects is still wet. You may have to make sure it stays centered until the Crystal Effects thickens. Set aside to dry.
- Large Soda Pop Tops:
- Repeat 4.A.i
- Place Small Soda Pop Top completed in 4.A.ii in the center, while Crystal Effects is still wet. Let dry.
- Punch hole in top of Large Soda Pop Tops with 1/16″ Hand Held Circle Punch. Assemble Key Chain & Necklace
- Small Soda Pop Tops:
- Earrings:
- Repeat Steps in 4.A.
- Affix Earring Findings to Small Soda Pop Tops with good Metal Jewelry Glue.
Note: Make sure you let the Crystal Effects dry at least an hour or two. To be safe I let these dry overnight.
There you have it! Wrap it up in some left-over Tea for Two DSP and you’re ready to delight someone special.
