Reason to Smile
Need a reason to smile? Call me an optimist but I can’t think of a reason not to smile. Especially when I find a simply beautiful card, created by another paper crafter. When the crafter gives me permission to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) the smile gets even bigger.
I needed one more card for a crafting club I host and I was running out of time. While browsing through the last challenge at Pals Paper Arts I happened upon Deb Crowley’s creation (shown below). Problem solved!
Thank you so much Deb for making my schedule a little easier last weekend! What does this have to do with “Free”style Friday? Everything, but you’ll have to read on.
“CASEing” is nothing new. Thank goodness there are so many talented artists to give us great ideas when we need extra inspiration or a quick project to get us through a creative dry spell. This “CASE” is almost an exact duplicate with a few personal touches.
The first change is the choice of paper. The card base was changed to Melon Mambo and the Designer Series Paper was changed to Gingham Garden.
Gingham Gardens, with it’s combination of subtle and vibrant colors makes a great replacement. The Flower Frames Framelits were used to cut the cute flower on both projects.
Next change, the stem. Deb stamped and cut the stem with the Secret Garden Stamp Set and coordinating Framelit.
I guess you could say I stepped it down just a little bit.
Last, the addition of a little bling. Love those rhinestones! The end result is very similar with my own personal touch.
Today’s Featured Items:
- Designer Series Paper: Gingham Garden (#129310)

Now about that “Free”style Friday. In this craft we have the “Free”dom to take a project and make it our own, with the proper acknowledgement, of course. Here’s where you come in. Create a project that you would like featured on Wild West Paper Arts. Photograph it and email it to me (rae@wildwestpaperarts.com). IMPORTANT! You must identify your email by inserting “Freestyle Friday CASE” in the Subject Line. Feel free to watermark your photo if you’d like. I’ll CASE it and put my own spin on your project. Just like last week, I’ll use Random Generator to pick a winner. Numbers are assigned based on when the email comes in. For example, first photo received is #1, second is #2, etc. I’ll then feature your project and mine in an upcoming post, acknowledging your beautiful art. Deadline, Midnight ET on Sunday, 6/30/13. If your project is not selected, I won’t use it in the future without your permission.
Thank you for stopping by for Freestyle Friday.
A reason to smile, for sure.
This is really a super project. I love all the detail – it’s beautiful! Saw you on MIM and had to stop by.
