Spread the Clockworks Joy
Look at the beautiful colors we have for the Pals Paper Arts color challenge this week. Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzaz and So Saffron make it easy to Spread the Clockwork Joy! Normally metal or grunge colors come to mind with a set like Clockworks but trying something completely different than the norm sometimes works out really, really well.
There’s a sweet story behind this card. If you’ll bear with me for just a minute…. My husband is not able to drive and we had a milestone anniversary this week. He asked, “Do you know someone that could make me a card? I can’t get to the store and it’s my anniversary.” I chuckled and told him I’d gladly take him to the store to pick something out. No, that just wouldn’t do. I decided not to give him a card so he wouldn’t feel bad.
Later that evening, I presented him with the card you see above and told him that I had picked out my card. He smiled, looked at the sentiment and said, with a puzzled look on his face, “Bucket List?” We both had a good laugh and all was right with the world. It’s not about things, but the feelings we give one another. These are the memories that will last.
Now, back to the card at hand. The heart and banner are part of a customer designed set called Spread the Joy. It was one of the winners during the “In With You” contest Stampin’ Up! held in 2013. They were colored with Stampin’ Write Markers, then fussy cut and popped up for dimension. The colors are carried through with the coordinating Candy Dots (Item #130933). They provide the perfect “Finishing Touch”.
Very simple and interesting at the same time. Think outside the box when it comes to using these grunge type stamps. Grunge stamps as background images with bright colors? Try “stamping off” some of the color before stamping on your project.
P.S. I love the card my husband gave me. 😉
