Twisted Paper Pumpkin
Maybe Twisted Paper Pumpkin isn’t quite right for this blog post. But it’s more than just an alternate project. It’s got a completely different personality thanks to products in the Affectionately Yours Product Suite.
The Paper Pumpkin May 2016 Kit (Many Manly Occasions) makes eight quick Masculine cards for birthday, Father’s Day and more. However, the die-cut patterns remind me of a garden lattice so I just had to create at least one floral card from the kit.
It was definitely a work in progress. The Floral Affection Embossing Folders come in a set of two small folders.
In the first version, I used the “Plan A” folder from the set. Not quite what I was looking for. Sorry no picture of that one. I’ll keep it for another card. Here’s a shot of “Plan B”… leaving the Floral Affection embossed image white.
This one would have been the final but the Whisper White cardstock wasn’t a match to the die-cut card. In some cases that wouldn’t matter. However, the contrast was too great for this proect. Thick Whisper White card stock is a little better but still not quite right. So, out comes the Blender Pen and Classic Ink matching the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP (Cucumber Crush, Daffodil Delight, Watermelon Wonder). After drying thoroughly, Clear Wink of Stella was added to a nice, overall shimmer then topped off with a few Gold Glitz Dazzling Details.
Hope you can see the Wink of Stella shimmer.
The Envelope Please: Decorated envelopes are all the craze right now, and for good reason. What an inviting message they send. I’m always looking for a technique for dressing up the envelope without attaching something that the Post Office will look down on. They really hate things that come off in their high-speed equipment. Wouldn’t you? Imagine, your beautiful envelope going through one of these huge, high-speed sorting machines, coming apart and WHAM! the machine comes to a screeching halt. Speaking from experience, operating printing and mailing equipment, it’s not fun or pretty. Not to mention the waste of time. Not all episodes end this badly but at the very least, all of your hard work can be ruined in a milisecond. So, try this…..
The back of your envelope will be debossed at the same time!
Paper Pumpkin Queston: Someone recently asked me where they can see sneak peeks of upcoming Paper Pumpkin Kits.
The answer: Stampin’ Up! publishes a video of the current kit approximately 5 days after the kits are mailed to subscribers. At that time I post the video to my Paper Pumpkin Patch page on Facebook, with a Spoiler Alert Warning to warn subscribers that haven’t received their kit yet. Other than that we don’t receive advance notice. It’s a monthly surprise!

Product Roundup – Twisted Paper Pumpkin:
Love the way this card turned out! Great idea to emboss the flap on the
envelope!
Love it, I think you did a wonderfully job.
Thank you JRGH…. I really appreciate it!
This is stunning, Rae! WOWZA!!!
Thanks so much Cathy!
very cool, thanks so much for sharing this – I find I usually can only see what is ‘planned’ for PP designs.
Thank you Kelley. So happy to inspire you.
Love it! I liked the individual components of the kit but not the final cards. I thought the die cut part reminded me of lattice work or a brick pattern it just cried for something fun and festive. I just have not made time to play with some flowers. So, I love your fun flowers that are colored and the piece behind the die cut is fun too. I was even thinking about using some ink that is terra cotta colored on the die cut piece and putting some flowers on it but then I didn’t think that would work. I hated to waste the great corrugated pieces they gave us under something so I scratched that idea. I like the Wink of Stella stuff on there. Did anyone ever find out why they named it that? The envelope is great. I love the EF on there. Thanks for some great ideas on this kit, meanwhile I am still checking for alternative ideas. I just hate making them all the same!
Did you fussy cut those flowers after they were embossed? Beautiful card.
