Walk in the Wild – Autumn Quail
Here we are, on Day 2 of the Send a Card a Day 7 day Challenge. Today I’m sharing my Pals 2013 Convention Swap Card, Walk in the Wild – Autumn Quail. Seems a bit early for the leave to fall but it’ll be here before you know it. In fact we’re welcoming some cooler weather in Reno this week. I’m ready!
As soon as the new catalog came out I searched for a set with wildlife for the swap card. There it was, on page 72, Walk in the Wild in all its glory.
This card looks much more difficult than it is. It does take some time to sponge and distress the edges but difficult it isn’t. With the help of your Big Shot, Autumn Accents Bigz Die, and Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder you’ll have most of the work done in no time.
When sponging with several colors, make sure to sponge the lightest color first. In the case of the lightest color maple leaf, Crushed Curry was the first to go on. Follow this with Cajun Craze and last Baked Brown Sugar.
The ink spatter was achieved by dipping a stiff bristle brush in a small pool of re-inkers, then flicked with my finger. Make sure to experiment on a scrap piece until you feel comfortable with the color and coverage.
I tried using a spritzer first but the coverage was to heavy.
One of the best things about this card, no heavy embellishments to make your local Mail Carrier frown. 🙂
Oh, I almost forgot! Do you remember me mentioning the Guinness World Record we set at the Stampin’Up! 25th Anniversary Celebration? We set the record for the most cards mailed from one location at one time. We had to beat just over 1,000 cards and we smashed it with 2,984! I may have said my card, the card on this post, was #3,000. That was the unofficial count. We were invited to mail additional cards if we wanted but only one card counted toward the record.
It was fun but tiring. The line was very, very long. I sent mine to my husband. Who would you send yours to? Now to think of who I should mail this one to for the challenge. Hmmm. Any ideas?

Rae, this is just beautiful! I love the dsp you picked for the leaves and the sponging. What a great card for either gender too!
Thank you Kelly!
