Your First Home
Do you remember your first home? Not the apartment you moved to when you first left the comfort of your childhood home. I mean the home you signed on the dotted line for. You know, the one that gave you a panic attack. Now that’s what I’m talking about. Welcome to my post for Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights, October. The theme this month is “Change of Life Circumstances” and I do believe that first home purchase qualifies, don’t you? I’ll tell you how to vote on your favorite projects toward the end of this post.
Choosing the bundle to use for this card was a cinch. The Home Life Bundle (145311) on page 149 of the Stampin’ Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog, has every image you need to create a cute “Congratulations on your new home” card. For a bundle that wasn’t on the radar for the Wild West Tack Room (aka studio), it sure has been appearing on a regular basis here in the Wild West. See the following posts….
Dear Teacher We’re Back
Cut Flowers for the Pals
Take a close look to see detail that makes your first house, your first home. Flowers, door knobs, texture and the like soften up the hard, angular lines of this shape. The Delicate White Doily sponged with Lemon-Lime Twist Classic Ink adds another dimension. Can you picture a big tree against the Soft Sky background?
Adding texture with Textured Impressions Embossing Folders will always step up your project. But, did you know that using Thick Whisper White, Very Vanilla or one of Stampin’ Up!s colorful cardstocks will pop embossed texture even more? Why? The thickness creates a deeper impression. Next time you think about embossing Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock, consider using the thick versions of these to colors. You won’t be disappointed.
Time to Vote! Every month I participate in an International Blog Highlights Challenge and ask for your vote. If you think I’ve earned your vote, that is. The following link will take you to the October gallery featuring thirty projects from around the world.
October 2017 International Blog Highlights Challenge
To Vote,
- look for my card or just go to entry #30, that’s me.
- When the voting opens you’ll see a heart in the upper corner of my card. Click on that heart, it will turn red. That means you’ve voted.
- You’ll also see a pop-up window that tells you how many votes you have left.
- That’s it!
Thank you for visiting today.

Your First Home Product Roundup:
Darn cute and useful it’s hard to find the right cards for first home congratulations. This is perfect.
Thank you Beth!
Hello, Rae, Oh yeah I remember that panic attack as if it was only yesterday. For me, it was 30 years ago and on Christmas Eve it will be 31 years.
I love your card and it is a really nice gesture to send a card to someone who has just bought a home whether it is their first or tenth.
You only receive bills in the mail for the first few months so receiving a lovely card like this would certainly bring out a Happy Dance for the Happy Mail.
Cheers from Australia
Thank you Christine… glad you like the story. You’re so right about receiving cards. A new home is so stressful, especially the first one.
So cute! Great choice of DSP for the roof tiles xx
Thank you Jessie. I stressed over the roof. Glad you like it.
What a fun card Rae! I would love to receive an adorable card like that! Wonderful job!
Thank you Denise. I’m really enjoying that bundle. I only purchased it because I didn’t care for it. Trying to push the envelope, so to speak.
