Sierra Snow 2015!
It’s here! Our first significant Sierra Snow for the 2015-2016 season! Not a drought buster but it’s a start. Perfect day to showcase the beautiful Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper (139590) and Wonderland Stamp Set (clear mount – 140365; wood mount – 139752). This Designer Series Paper reminds me of Christmas gift wrap from the 1950’s and 60’s. Soft and muted just like the flannel pj’s we wore back then.
Soft and cozy and of course a little bling too. It seems like every Christmas tree was laden with tinsel back then. The tinsel picked up colors of bright, multi-color lights spiraling up the tree to a magnificent tree topper.
Look closely at the focal piece of the card and you’ll see little bits of Dazzling Details (item 124117) to represent some of the snow we received yesterday. A perfect hint of glitz without being gaudy.
My parents had a very precise method of hanging the tinsel, or should I say throwing it. Yes, throwing. My mom said it made the tinsel land in a more natural way, like icicles hanging in nature. The Christmas tree was definitely a big deal. It had to be a Silver Tip. If the tree wasn’t perfect, my dad would pull out his hack saw and hand drill to remove branches in one place to insert in a bare spot somewhere else.
And there you have it, a trip down memory lane. I’m sure you have one too. I’d love to hear a few. Send me an email or put a snippet in the comment section below.

Sierra Snow 2015 Product Round-up:
A trip down memory lane indeed! I swear we had jammies made out of flannel that looked like this print! Or, at least wrapping paper! Tinsel – one year we handled it oh so carefully and then the next year threw it on for a realistic look according to my parents. I think we spent way too many hours on that tree laying it on so carefully. Love the pine cones and greenery on there too. So fun. Luckily we have not had any snow here yet and only one frost that I am aware of. I don’t think my dad drilled holes in the trunk to insert a branch but who knows? Makes sense to me. I don’t think we will have a tree this year – Ted, the basset hound, is 17 months old but I think a tree in the house might make him crazy looking for squirrels! Also, he loves paper and no presents can be on the floor!
